Plan B presents Dwelled by Aurélia Noudelmann, an artist and researcher focused on the methods and politics of archiving. Her work delves into the circulation of memories among the mind, spaces, and objects. She expands this language through immersive installations and collaborative workshops.
From June 5th to June 17th, she has been immersed in the former Pieter Baan Center as part of the Uncloud residency program. Throughout the 20th century, the Pieter Baan Center served as a women’s prison, a detention center, and a psychiatric criminal clinic. During her residency, Aurélia explored the intricate relationship between memory and oblivion by diving in the site’s archives, collecting and 3D scanning the last marks of the detention history.
Within each room of the former prison, intercom devices are mounted on the walls, once used to communicate and govern the inmates. Aurélia developed a virtual map in the form of a 3D model representing the motherboard of the intercom system. She then converted and scripted data on the inmates’ periods of incarceration into animated chimeras that evolve within this environment.
This work in progress will be showcased during her presentation at Plan B. The finalized project will be exhibited at the Uncloud festival physicaldigital-digitalphysical-physicaldigital-[…] in the autumn of 2023.
